Mr. Certilman is an attorney with more than thirty years of experience across a spectrum of commercial areas including commercial litigation, corporate and commercial law, corporate finance and transactions, real estate, trademarks, copyright, licensing and business process outsourcing. He also has an active practice as an arbitrator and mediator with extensive domestic and international experience in cases up to $30 million in dispute. He entered the arbitration field in 1988 and has served in more than two hundred cases as sole arbitrator, panelist and panel chair.He was trained as a mediator in 1999 and has served in more than fifty cases. He is a Chartered Arbitrator and Fellow of The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, London, England, which Mr. Certilman served as an elected trustee for nearly seven years, during which he was twice elected chairman of the Board of Trustees. Selected examples of cases in which Mr. Certilman has served include software and technology licensing, telecommunications, insurance coverage, services agreements, construction, investment agreements, publishing, shareholder and employment agreements, franchising and real estate disputes. His arbitration panel memberships include American Arbitration Association (Commercial, Large Complex Case, Technology and Mediation Panels), International Institute for Conflict Prevention and Resolution (CPR) (Commercial, Technology and Mediation Panels), National Arbitration and Mediation, American Dispute Resolution Center, FINRA, HKIAC, VIAC and other major ADR panels worldwide. Mr. Certilman is also a member of the Panel of Mediators of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. He has authored numerous works on ADR topics including a chapter on Arbitrability of International IP Disputes in a book entitled Arbitration of IP Disputes published by Juris Publishing. He is a frequent presenter and trainer in arbitration training and continuing education programs.

In addition to his work in law, arbitration and mediation, Mr. Certilman holds an appointment as Adjunct Professor of Law at Fordham University School of Law teaching international arbitration and serves as a Magistrate and Attorney Trial Referee of the Superior Court of the State of Connecticut. He is the former chair of the Technology Law Section of the Connecticut Bar Association.
